29.10.2026Dr. Peacock gives Mecano’s ‘Hijo de la Luna’ a frenchcore twist#News#HardcoreThe Dutch Frenchcore pioneer reimagines one of Spain’s most iconic songs, turning a childhood favourite into a powerful new production. Dr. Peacock has officially released his Frenchcore version of ‘Hijo de la Luna’, the iconic song originally performed by Spanish pop group Mecano. Blending the emotional character of the original with the high energy of frenchcore, the track brings a personal touch to one of Spain’s most recognisable pop classics. For Dr. Peacock, this is much more than another cover. “I love this track since I was a kid,” he explained, recalling how his parents used to play it at home. The song also became a favourite of one of his closest friends, meaning it remained part of his life over the years. “It’s a track I never get bored of. It means a lot to me.” A long-awaited project Although reworking ‘Hijo de la Luna’ had been a dream for years, bringing the idea to life required finding the right approach. The turning point came when a friend introduced him to a cover singer whose voice sounded remarkably similar to Mecano’s original vocalist. Inspired by the result, Dr. Peacock decided to build a Frenchcore version around her performance. Nevertheless, the artist admits he needed help to achieve the result he had envisioned. “It was always a dream to do that one, but, to be honest, I didn’t have the skills yet to make it the way I wanted it”, he revealed. “I also got help for this production, honestly. It was a huge project!” ## From the stage to the official release Before reaching streaming platforms today, the track made its live debut at Harmony of Hardcore, providing the perfect setting to introduce the rework to the hardcore community. It has been part of Steve’s sets since then. “It’s a very nice moment to share with the crowd”, he said, highlighting the connection the track has created during his sets. With this release, Dr. Peacock brings a personal childhood memory into the frenchcore scene, giving a beloved Spanish classic a new identity without losing sight of the connection that made it special to him in the first place. ‘Hijo de la Luna’ by Dr. Peacock is out now on all streaming platforms and available for download in the Hardstyle.com store.
