Adaro releases ‘Start The Show’, a tribute to the golden era of hardstyle

The Dutch producer has surprised us with the follow-up of ‘Blast From The Past’, making a mixture of the essence of the OG melodic hardstyle with some modern touches

After the success of his previous release ‘Blast From The Past’, Thijs Ploegmakers, also known as Adaro, has just released a brand new tune that maintains the same energy: ‘Start The Show’. Adaro is known for keeping the melodic aura from back in the days, together with raw kicks and a lot of drive, both in his tracks and sets. No matter if he plays a classics set or a regular one, you will still get to hear songs that mix both worlds.

‘Start The Show’ is a perfect example of that. Right from the beginning of the track, you can hear old-school leads that build into a melody that resonates with the tunes from the golden era of hardstyle. “In the mid-intro, you can hear typical Italian influences, Technoboy and Tuneboy are my heroes”, Adaro told us. “I changed the mid-intro riff at least ten times; since it’s only a few notes, it quickly starts to resemble something that already exists, but eventually I was satisfied”.

“That’s always a challenge with this kind of tracks: you want the old feeling, but you also want to stay original”

Everything from the mid-intro to the build-up, vocals, and melody has this little remembrance from the good old days. “The rap is a real 80s style rap”, Thijs claims. “I’ve always loved that combination with hardstyle and hardcore. The Prophet also did this a lot. The chopped, pitched-up vocal in the mid-intro reminds me a bit of old Wildstylez tracks, triplet-cut on the beat, which flows nicely. Mix those influences together, add a modern kick underneath that leans more toward Rawstyle, and I hope it results in an original Adaro flow”.

Tracks like ‘Start The Show’ are the perfect bridge between old and new fans in hardstyle music: older fans can still get the melodic taste from back in the days while newer fans will hear the power and energy of modern rawstyle. “What I hope is that old fans enjoy hearing music that fits their old taste again, and that newer audiences get the chance to discover it”, Adaro said. “I firmly believe this can also work for new generations, but they need to actually come into contact with it, which is more difficult these days due to algorithms and hype cycles”.

He adds a little message from people who constantly write their complaints online: “In my opinion, an incredible amount of great music has been released this past year. classic raw, euphoric, reverse bass, jump, early rave, and millennium hardcore are all making comebacks in their own ways. People complaining online that music used to be better no longer have any reason to complain, they just need to dig a little deeper to find new music that fits their taste. It’s definitely out there!”

‘Start The Show’ by Adaro is out now on Hardstyle.com.
