Devin Wild and The Purge share their ‘EUPHORIA’ moments

What gets you into a euphoric state? That particular focus is the highlight of Devin Wild and The Purge’s most recent release, ‘EUPHORIA’. We sat down with the two to talk about their new track, the most recent edition of Qlimax and what it was like to work on their first track together. 

Congratulations on your new release! We really like this combination between the two of you. How did this all start out?

Devin Wild: “I was particularly drawn to the style of The Purge. While I can sometimes be very serious about music, he often does things with a wink. That was something I wanted to learn and try myself. However, you are less likely to step out of your own routines, principles and comfort zone, and sometimes you need a little push. His music and overall energy just has a very positive effect on people, including myself. It always makes me happy when I see him. So besides inspiring me, I also thought it would be really fun to work together. And that turned out to be the case!”

The Purge: “I really dig the quality of Devin Wild’s productions. I think we made the perfect match between both visions, which caused a super cool outcome. Best of both worlds!”

Spill the tea, what was it really like working together?

Devin Wild: “There was an immediate good click, especially on a personal level. We both share a passion for Italian cuisine and of course music. We are close to each other with our studios and have lunch together every week, so it certainly leaves you wanting more!"

The Purge: “Really, Devin Wild is a pioneer! For sure one of the best technical producers within the hardstyle scene. I’ve learned a lot of cool new stuff and next to that, we had a lot of romantic pizza dates in between hahah.”

The name of the track is ‘EUPHORIA’. What puts you guys in a state of euphoria?

Devin Wild, laughing: “Manuel’s running dance!”

The Purge: “For sure to see the response of the crowd when we play it live. Already in the early stage of playing this track live a lot of people knew the melody, that’s literally the best feedback you could get!”

You were both at Qlimax a few weeks ago. Devin Wild, how did you experience that?

Devin Wild: “It was crazy. I honestly really enjoyed it. Qlimax is something I dreamed of from an early age when I started listening and making hardstyle. And then there is the moment that feels super unreal, but of course also very sick! One of my coolest experiences! It’s really nice that people shouted the melody of ‘EUPHORIA’ so loudly. That is of course always the ultimate goal, so great if that happens!”

The Purge, you just had your own event with Adjuzt, Dreamscape. One week later, you were one of the Shadow Priests at Qlimax… what’s next?

The Purge: “Only the future will tell, but 2024 will be another rollercoaster! Follow me on my socials to be the first to find out…”
