Devin Wild releases ‘Thoughts Will Drown‘ as part of his new experimental EP  

One of the most talented producers in the hardstyle scene is back with a new extended play that pushes the boundaries of his exquisite sound design and, also, of his songwriting.

After the release of the HARDFEST 2026 anthem, together with Rejecta, and only a few weeks behind the launch of ‘Will I Ever Dare (To Lose Control)’, Devin Wild has surprised his fans with the announcement of a brand new EP from his side, out now on SCANTRAXX.

This EP consists of two tracks: ‘Will I Ever Dare (To Lose Control)’ and ‘Thoughts Will Drown’, which has just been released today. We are already familiar with the EP formula coming from Dion, but this EP feels quite different to his previous projects such as ‘Among The Noise’ or ‘Exhale’. Even though these two tracks are also very experimental and have a very particular sound design, just as the tunes in the previous EPs, we can feel and hear a different Devin Wild on it: a more introspective one.

“I tried to reflect on things and put emotions and experiences into perspective”

Themes have always been present in Devin Wild’s previous projects. If you take a listen at his previous albums and EPs, you can definitely notice the tracks are part of a bigger picture. This time, especially having only two tracks on it, you can hear they are strongly connected by the theme and by the kind of feeling they transmit.

We love when music itself is a mirror where artists stare at. This is what everything should be all about, not just releasing a bunch of disjointed tracks that have nothing to do with each other. Devin Wild has achieved this on this EP. “I like being aware of what I feel and what I project outward. Those kinds of themes have always felt inspiring to explore through music, without making them too obvious or direct”, Dion told us. “Because it’s so personal, I actually prefer to keep it a bit abstract”.

‘Thoughts Will Drown’ feels very pure and honest to me, but also a bit unfamiliar at the same time.

We have taken the advantage of asking Devin Wild about the creative process of this track. Knowing that the song is so special, and in some way also different to his own discography, we have also discovered that the way of approaching it by the artist has also changed compared to his other productions. “I made this track around 2023 as a demo, but somehow it never left that phase - it kind of became ‘the forever demo’”, he explained. “It felt so personal and, in a way, vulnerable, that it just didn’t feel right to change much about it. That’s pretty unusual for me, since I normally love diving into details and endlessly reworking things”, he added.

We are very curious about the direction Devin Wild is going to take with his music this year after the release of these two tracks, that somehow sound very different but they are still two masterpieces, both in terms of songwriting and themes, but also talking about sound production. “This track was actually really difficult to fit into any project I’d been working on lately”, Dion admitted. “But for some reason, releasing it now alongside ‘Will I Ever Dare’ just felt right in this context. I’m not sure if I’ll make more music in this exact direction, but since I create music purely out of passion, you never really know where things can lead”.
