DJ The Prophet’s story unfolds in a book: this is 'Uit het HARD'
Even though DJ The Prophet stopped performing last year, his lasting legacy in the harder styles scene is well-known. As a major figure in hard dance music and a true innovator, his nickname 'The Godfather of Hardstyle' is well-earned. Now, as the cherry on top of his career, DJ The Prophet will be immortalized in a heartfelt book. "After 40 years, it's finally time for me to share my story."
To capture his story in the best way possible, DJ The Prophet collaborated with renowned dance scene writer Arne van Terphoven. For 'UIT HET HARD,' Van Terphoven fully immersed himself in the realms of illegal raves, hardcore, and hardstyle. Even though the hardstyle genre was new for the Dutch writer, the music scene wasn't. Van Terphoven is well-known for his intricate books about this topic, with subjects such as Multigrove, ID&T, and Awakenings.
According to Van Terphoven, the career of The Prophet might be one of the world's biggest careers in the music industry. "It's incredible to maintain such relevance for more than four decades. When you consider the influence, longevity, and relevance, along with a complete musical transition — absolutely exceptional. We're talking about Multigroove, Thunderdome, Defqon, Q-dance..."
'UIT HET HARD' - a book about The Prophet, hardstyle, and how the Netherlands rose to become the world’s premier dance nation
Unlike Van Terphoven’s previous books aboud the music industry, which were filled with outlandish drug and rock 'n' roll stories, 'UIT HET HARD' offers a serious exploration of the business side of the hardstyle genre. The book is packed with insights into how the Netherlands rose to become the world’s premier dance nation. The history of The Prophet goes hand in hand with the evolution of ID&T during the gabber era and later, Q-dance. This book offers a fresh perspective on these highlights.
From illegal raves to the Defqon.1 mainstage
Moreover, the story is told through an incredibly honest and tumultuous personal journey. DJ The Prophet concluded his illustrious career after more than 35 years, making his final appearance at Defqon.1. For the SCANTRAXX founder himself, it's hard to realize that in four decades, he has lived through it all. "From illegal raves with 50 people, to 70.000 people in front of the Defqon.1 mainstage. It's unreal."
In those 40 years, The Prophet has encountered a lot of people. From Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T) to Headhunterz, and from Wouter Tavecchio (Q-dance) to Ilja Reiman (Multigroove), they all have something to say about him in 'UIT HET HARD'. "It's an extraordinary story," remarks Van Terphoven, who also mentioned that this book will be his last in the hard dance genre. "And being the last book, it must also be the best, with the biggest story to tell."
