Frontliner & John Harris’ ‘Loud’ turns +10 years

The biggest track in Frontliner’s career is still making a huge impact in the scene, counting millions of streams and being part of classics sets all over the world

Released back in 2015, ‘Loud’ by Frontliner and John Harris quickly established itself as one of the most iconic tracks of its time. At a moment where hardstyle was reaching a strong emotional peak, the Dutch producer delivered exactly what defined his signature sound: powerful melodies combined with a deep emotional core.

Looking back at the creation of the track, it wasn’t the result of a big plan or strategy. “If I look back on making this track together with John, it was all joy,” Frontliner explains. “I remember John was very excited since he wrote the lyrics and the piano-riff before our studio session started, somewhere in 2015. No plan, just making music, like we always did. It was so infectious, and different. He truly nailed it!”

Known as “The Melody Man” for a reason, Frontliner crafted a track that perfectly balanced euphoric energy with musical storytelling. The addition of John Harris’, a combination we had seen before on another golden hit: ‘Halos’,  distinctive vocals elevated ‘Loud’ even further. “He really loves making music and Hardstyle got a special place in his heart,” Frontliner says. “He writes different, he has a unique voice. He is just very passionate and a spot-on writer.”

Over the years, ‘Loud’ has maintained its status as a true scene anthem. Whether it’s his biggest track, Frontliner leaves up to the fans. “Might be, I don't know. It's for everyone else to say. If I purely look at the amount of streams, yes, but there are so many tracks I've made that do extremely well while performing.”

More than a decade later, the track’s impact is still clearly visible. With over 23 million streams on Spotify and more than 1 million views on YouTube, ‘Loud’ keeps reaching both longtime fans and newer audiences discovering the genre.

While the track perfectly represents the golden era of euphoric hardstyle, Frontliner himself is always focused on what’s next. “I have tons of great memories from that era. But I'm also continuing making new ones. Usually my favorite track or project are the ones I'm currently working on,” he explains. “I love technology and pushing myself every time in the studio, especially when it comes to sound-design and bringing something unique. I love telling stories throughout my music.”

Still, the legacy of ‘Loud’ remains undeniable. “When playing at classics-events these days, the vibe is always crazy and I love that.”
