Frontliner's hit 'Discorecord' gets a fresh new twist with Galactixx' remix

This track, featured in The Endshow of Defqon.1 2026, will be out this Friday on Defqon.1 Records and Scantraxx

In 2024, 'Bass Drop', with Villain. In 2025, 'Hurt', with Ecstatic. And in 2026, 'Discorecord' Remix. What a run Galactixx is having in Defqon.1 endshows! After the success of his two previous chances, Ralf has been featured at The Endshow again, this time remixing an all-time classic by the legend Frontliner, which has been released today.

"'Discorecord' marked a turning point for me"

2026 marks the 15th anniversary of the release of Frontliner's 'Discorecord'. This track is one of the biggest hits of that time, and an anthem for a whole generation of hardstyle lovers. Its melody is one of the most iconic ones in hardstyle history and, thanks to Galactixx, the track is having a second life now, in 2026. "Fifteen years ago, I attended my very first hardstyle party at Intents Festival, and 'Discorecord' was one of the tracks that really pulled me into the genre", Galactixx told us. "Thanks to it, hardstyle not only became an essential part of my life, but it started my career as an artist. Looking back at those parties with my friends to now being part of that same movement makes me incredibly proud". Frontliner himself also reflected on the release of 'Discorecord' for our interview. "Still, when I play the original it's pure energy in the crowd. 'Discorecord' is still much alive after all these years!", Barry told us.

The creative process when making a remix is always different to when you create something new from scratch. How did the idea of the 'Discorecord' remix come? "I actually played the original mix during one of my shows at the beginning of the year. I posted a video on my Instagram Stories asking my fans which all-time classic I should remix this summer, and the very first answer was Barry's (Frontliner) suggesting me to try 'Discorecord'. I immediately took it as a challenge and, after receiving the stems, I started working on it the very next day", he said. We also asked Frontliner, who told us: "I know Ralf's music is very energetic and melodic, and he's doing amazing with his own tracks. It's really awesome how he put everything together. The new vocal supporting the original and his amazing interpretation of the melody".

Remixing a classic is, definitely, not an easy call. It's quite a double edge sword: you have to bring your signature sound to the table while keeping the essence of what made it become a classic. Galactixx did it quite well keeping the original melody, adding his own touches and sounds. "My goal was to treat the original with respect, while giving it a fresh dose of my own energy", he admitted. "Adding the female vocal is probably my favourite part of the remix. It gave the track an emotional layer that felt authentic to both the original and my own style".

Although this track already got played since the beginning of the year at Galactixx' sets, for example at Reverze, it has caught a lot of attention within the scene after it got featured at Defqon.1's The Endshow, which was premiered a couple of weeks ago. After Defqon.1's cancellation and the whole situation, everything related to it will feel even more emotional and will go down to history in a special way. This will happen with this remix of 'Discorecord' as well.

"Being part of the Defqon.1 endshow has always been one of my biggest dreams. Experiencing it three years in a row is still hard to believe. What makes me the most proud is that it happened with three completely different songs, which really reflects my diversity and creativity as an artist", Galactixx told us. "This year's situation was incredibly difficult for everyone, but seeing all the love after The Endshow was released online showed just how strong and connected this scene really is".
