Sparkz releases his debut album: 'SPARKZ : LIVE : ALBUM'

Eloy Willemsen, most known as Sparkz, has just unveiled the most exciting project of his career so far. This LIVE album, which has been released in Unfold Records, features 15 tracks, including solos, edits and collaborations

If we look at the xtra-raw scene, there are several names that stand out by themselves as the leaders of the new generation of artists. One of them is definitely Sparkz. After releasing banger after banger, such as 'Can't Stop Us' with Dual Damage, 'Get Close' with Cardination or 'Breaking Boundaries' with Hard Destiny, the Dutch DJ has just unveiled the biggest project to date: his debut album.

"I've put everything into this album: energy, emotion and my creative vision", Eloy says. Sparkz has tried to transmit a whole story within this record. This is not just a compilation of tracks, but a full product consistent of four different zones: The Impact Zone, consisting of raw energy, the core of Sparkz' sound; The Blackout Zone, focusing on the raw, minimalistic side of his signature sound; Afterglow, the euphoric version of the artist and Dystopia, a recreation of a dystopian vibe with a very rough sound.

"These four zones formed my story"

We have talked with Sparkz more specifically about the formation of these four zones and how he has used the different concepts to build the whole album. "I didn't just categorize the songs after thinking about the zones. I wrote them from within them", he claims. "These zones aren't just a concept, they are the music. They reflect who I was in that moment and what I needed to express. That's why this album feels more like a journey and not just a collection of tracks".

As we mentioned before, a very important part of this LP are the brand new edits, mostly used by Sparkz on his LIVE sets. In which way is the Sparkz LIVE experience captured in this album? "My LIVE sets and this album follow the same philosophy: I want people to experience the same musical journey", he answers. "This album contains 7 edits. Intents marked the final LIVE scheduled for this year, so I wanted to give people the same feeling, but at home. This album is designed to take you somewhere: somewhere raw, honest and full of energy".

"'It's Always Been You' is very special to me - it came straight from my heart"

There are several artists that are also featured in this 'SPARKZ : LIVE : ALBUM'. Revelation, Coldax and Chrizens have participated by collaborating in three tracks with Sparkz. 'It's Always Been You', the track with Revelation, contains a special meaning for the artist: "this track was originally made for my girlfriend. It started out very personal - just an idea that came straight from the heart. After that, I brought it to Revelation and it turned into a collab. It's a euphoric track that is very special to me", Eloy says.

And now, what's next? What are the plans for Sparkz for the upcoming months? "I will be doing a special set together with BMBERJCK at Defqon.1!", he tells us. "We are preparing special new music, capturing our feelings about the legacy of the older sounds, combining OG sounds with our kicks and way of making xtra raw". Apart from this, there's some mystery around Sparkz' mid term future: "At the end of the year, we will announce something special too, but for now the focus lies on Defqon.1 and the rest of the festival season!".
