Zany and Adaro release 'The House Is On Fire', their first collab ever

Two legends from the scene have teamed up for a refreshing track with some oldschool vibes, out now on Roughstate

It's surprising to notice that two powerhouses of hardstyle as Zany and Adaro hadn't worked together until now... but it's real! After being on top of the game for the past two decades, each of them with their own signature style, it was about time we got to see Raoul and Thijs' paths crossing. "We were talking about working together for years, and now it finally happened", they told us. "This collab went really naturally. We tried several basic ideas before we started developing the complete track".

A mix of influences: jumpstyle, reverse bass, gated kicks...

When you hear this track for the first time, you can clearly notice the influence of both artists. Having different backgrounds and sound designs, we can spot touches from both of them. "We sparred back and forth about sounds and melodies. We both went way back in hardstyle history and you can definitely hear that", they said. "We both have a broad musical taste and had big fun making this summer banger!".

'The House Is On Fire' is a new proof that the oldschool sound is very trendy right now. Hardstyle classics festivals are doing massive sold outs, several big names are going back to their roots in their new releases and there's a growing fandom around the OG tracks and sounds. We've asked Zany and Adaro about their opinion on this topic: "This is not just nostalgia", they answered, "this sound has so much more to offer, it's far from completed. It's also a natural counter-reaction to the extremes in the hardstyle and rawstyle of recent years. In our opinion, it drifted too far away from the elements that we love in this music. New and fresh things will come out of this new resurgence movement, we both believe strongly in that"

"The track couldn't have been created 10 years ago, that's what makes it fresh and interesting!"

Even though nostalgia is important to arise feelings regarding a certain track, artist or style, there's no doubt that musical production has evolved and improved a lot in the past few years. You can produce a track that keeps the vibe and certain sounds from back in the days, but everything will sound cleaner and with a better sound design. Zany and Adaro have reflected on this topic as well. "If we had made this track a decade ago, it would have sounded less clean and full, because of all the new techniques and possibilities we now have in our hands", he told us.

"The track would have been longer in time, that's something that has changed through the years", he added. "The song is now a mixture between styles and eras, which would have also been different, as we would have chosen probably a certain style".
