REBELION & WARFACE ABOUT THEIR NEW COLLAB: SWITCHBLADES🔪

Rebelion and Warface, two raw-hardstyle acts that are on top of the game. It’s not the first time, but these two masterminds have come together again to put together a new collab: ‘Switchblades’. I was wondering where they got their inspiration from, the creative process behind Switchblades, and what makes this track different from previous collabs. In this interview, the boys open up about these burning questions.

We were wondering how the guys are doing, Warface is doing well “cool to have a chat with you guys” also the Scottish lads of Rebelion are doing pretty good at the moment.

Despite the festival season being cancelled once again, Warface remains positive. He keeps himself busy with music and tries to release a track every month. “The last announcement about the Festival season cancellation was obviously a big smack in the face (again). But yeah we (Remco and I) are trying to stay positive.”  For Rebelion, it has been especially tough that they had to move their sold-out party, but they’re also trying to stay positive: “we had put so much work into it but fuck it, we will go double as hard on the 18th Sep!“.

“We really love Lil Peep and we always wanted to do cover of a track of him.” 

So, a new collab it is! The gentlemen mainly get inspiration from each other. “To be honest, we are almost always on the same page when making music with Remco & Youri so when someone has an idea it’s just like an avalanche of ideas & inspiration.” says Rebelion. Besides that, the track is a cover of a track from Lil Peep & Lil tracy – Witchblades. “We really love Lil Peep and we always wanted to do cover of a track of him.”  adds Warface.

In the track, there are about 9/10 different kicks. Also, Warface says something about a small Easter Egg in the track “I don’t know if we can say it. ’cause there’s a small easter egg hidden in the track.” They remain very secretive about this Easter Egg…. We are wondering what this Easter Egg is and what it entails. Hmm… to be continued!

Switchblades isn’t the first Rebelion & Warface collab. The boys, therefore, find that it is difficult to explain what makes the track different from the previous collabs they have made together. “I think you really can hear a good blend from both of the acts. It sounds a little bit old school Rebelion & Warface but with a 2021 twist.” says Warface. For Rebelion, it’s mainly about the fun they have in the studio “it normally goes 40% weird shit 40% laughing 20% music.“

“My DM exploded”

The first time Rebelion & Warface played Switchblades was on the Intents Festival Livestream. The guys were flooded with positive feedback after the online festival. Warface loved the reactions: “My DM exploded”. Rebelion has been able to show the track to real audiences a number of times “the response was insane!“.

Looking to the future, Rebelion is primarily concerned with making music that they can present when they are able to perform again: “we are really working hard on upping our game on all fronts so when things finally open, we are ready to smash the scene into bits“. Warface is not sitting still either, “I’m working my ass off to get everything ready for my Live For This event in November.”
