The Scantraxx BLACK-based artist REVIVE teamed up with Madoc to give a Hardstyle with Dutch hip hop collaboration a different twist. Instead of going for a “Child of the Devil” vibe they wanted to go for something with a real raw edge. It had to be a sound that represented both their acts and would appeal to their own following. REVIVE opens up about his new release, his plans for the future, and more during this interview. Curious to hear his story? Read on!
FIRST OF ALL, HOW ARE YOU DOING?
I’m doing great, thanks. I hope you are doing great too!
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOURSELF BUSY IN THESE CRAZY TIMES? MAINLY MAKING MUSIC?
Yes, although this period is crazy, it did give me a massive focus on making REVIVE grow. Besides my job as a business developer at a scale-up software company called Piggy. I spend my days working on new music in the studio, building a following online, finding creative and great people and partners to collaborate with, and trying to have as much fun as possible during the process.
AT LEAST WE’RE FINALLY ABLE TO PARTY AGAIN! DO YOU HAVE BIG THINGS ON THE SCHEDULE?
Yes, I do. I don’t want to make it too mysterious but some parties are not yet announced. But anyway, next month you will find me in some cool venues like Time out. And at the beginning of next year ill play at Masters of Hardcore!
SO, A SICK NEW TRACK. WHAT IS THE IDEA BEHIND IT AND WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
Although I like to keep it hard, I’m always looking for a fresh and original twist to every track. Examples of that you find in my track PARTY ELITE where I drop two Frenchcore drops, my collaboration with Drum and Bass artist KNARS in BAD TRIP and my ”Raw Hardstyle meets Uptempo” track CARRY ME HOME With Unproven.
For this, I got inspiration from the popular youtube channel ”Roddelpraat” made by Dennis Schouten and Jan Roos. They have a weekly dutch rapper called Madoc in the show. When I first heard him I was really impressed! His voice is really raw and it kind of resembles my hero I grew up with called Sticks from Opgezwolle.

IS THERE SOMETHING WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF NACHTBRAKERS?
After hearing him a few times on the show I reached out to him and asked if he would like to collaborate. In less than an hour, he had already sent me the awesome lines you find in this track ”Nachtbrakers”.
For both of us, it was important to bring something original to the scene. We really wanted something mature with balls and not too happy or carnivalesque. We didn’t want to go for a ”Kind Van De Duivel” vibe or a ”Kick Tegen Je Kop / Kicks In Your Face” kinda track haha.
Madoc is a really nice and ambitious guy and we kinda became friends in the process. He is and we are also in the process of a few big collaborations with A-class artists. More info about that hopefully soon. Really exciting though.
WHAT MAKES NACHTBRAKERS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR OTHER TRACKS?
That’s obvious! It’s my first track with Dutch vocals. Besides that, I worked together with Tijmen Meijer on a video clip. We recorded it in Deventer, the city i grew up in, That’s also a first for me haha.
What about the future of REVIVE?
No one knows for sure but I’m really motivated. So with producing good tracks, being positive, and surrounding myself with good and supportive people and organizations I hope to pick up some momentum soon.
