HOW THE HARDCORE TRACK WANNA PLAY? REACHED OVER 500 MILLION PLAYS

Wanna Play? by The Prophet was released on Scantraxx in 2019. One year after its release, the track went viral on TikTok. At its peak moment, more than 250.000 videos were on the platform of people dancing, going crazy in cars or doing other insane things to Wanna Play?.

The TikTok success had a massive impact on the track’s streams on other platforms. On Spotify, the track recently surpassed 25 million streams, which is an outstanding number for a 200 BPM Hardcore track. The original YouTube video had more than 8 million views.

In this interview, we sat down with The Prophet, the creator of the track, Rens de Wit, The Prophet’s manager and Denis Doeland, growth hacker and digital strategist, to talk about the story behind Wanna Play?, how the track went viral on TikTok, what impact it had on The Prophet’s career and why there is a new music video to a 2-year-old track.
