Level One dives into the more melodic side of Hardstyle with 'Catch Me'
We all know Level One (Bas van Herpt) for his own kinda sound, with his recognizable kicks and dark melodies. This time around, he chooses to take his skills as a producer to another level and explores the more melodic sound of Hardstyle, which turned out in his new single 'Catch Me'. "I wanted to show my more melodic side instead of always make the more dark stuff."
According to Level One, the hardstyle scene is mainly focussed on extra raw / hard kicks nowadays and less focussed on the melody, "which I personally really love within our genre. So, for this track I wanted to show my more melodic side instead of always make the more dark stuff."
Bas began working on 'Catch Me' with a different melody that gave him chills from the start. "I didn’t find a fitting vocal," he explains, so SCANTRAXX and he enlisted an agency to find the perfect match - and they loved the concept too. "The process went surprisingly smoothly," he adds. About two weeks later, they delivered the first vocal demo. "I was instantly hooked," Bas says. "I was on my way to Hardstyle DNA in Norway and already had a clear direction for the track."
When he returned, he headed straight to the studio, building the concept just in time for Intents Festival. "I was nervous since the lineup was extra raw," he admits, "but the crowd loved it - especially the melody. It gave me the exact feeling I was aiming for!"
'Catch Me' by Level One is out now on Hardstyle.com and all other portals, so make sure to check it out! To never miss out on any shows, releases & more, make sure to follow Level One & SCANTRAXX on Instagram.
