90.000 HARDSTYLE FANS CONNECT ONLINE DURING QLIMAX DISTORTED REALITY

90.000 Hardstyle fans from all over the world connected last Saturday during Qlimax Distorted Reality. Despite the fact that the sold-out Qlimax The Reawakening had to be canceled with only seven days’ notice, Q-dance pulled off an amazing online experience.

Devastating news reached The Netherlands just one week before the biggest indoor Hardstyle event was set to take place: all events have to be canceled once again. Qlimax The Reawakening, which should have taken place on November 20 at GelreDome, could not take place.

Although news like that on such short notice is extremely frustrating, Q-dance didn’t doubt for a second and produced a brand-new digital festival experience. Qlimax Distorted Reality offered a unique experience for fans with Augmented Reality and special effects incorporated into the show. All artists of the original Qlimax line-up took part in the digital experience as well, including four surprise acts.

THE ARTISTS

The line-up consisted of Zany, D-Block & S-te-Fan, The Qreator, Sub Zero Project, Ran-D, Sound Rush, Rebelion, D-Sturb & Act Of Rage, Sefa, and Villain. The surprise acts were KELTEK, Devin Wild, Frequencerz, and Vertile. I would have loved to give you my personal favorite set but honestly, I loved every single one!

People from 102 countries watched the free online Hardstyle spectacle which was broadcast on the Q-dance Network. The live stream kicked off with Qlimax The Legacy, where virtual festival goers were taken on a trip down memory lane through 20 years of Qlimax. After four hours of legendary archive content, the specially-built stage setup was unveiled, taking viewers to a whole new realm. Did you know that decor pieces from the original Qlimax The Reawakening stage were used?

SETS ONLINE SOON

It was the second time that Qlimax had to take place online. After last year’s contrasting approach to a regular live stream which resulted in a stunning Netflix movie, the organization hosted a stream showcasing plenty of (new) music by a variety of artists this year. Let’s hope that next year, we can finally enjoy Qlimax in its original form again!

Sets from Qlimax Distorted Reality will be published on Q-dance Network very soon.
