The Dutch cabinet just held a press conference about the increasing number of positive COVID tests and if new measures are necessary again. But what does that mean for restaurants, bars, clubs, and our beloved festivals? We’ve got all the new rules summed up for you.
RESTAURANTS AND BARS HAVE TO CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT
Just like a few weeks ago, restaurants and bars will have to close at midnight again. This means that while we can enjoy a nice dinner and have some drinks, we won’t be able to party in bars. Additionally, the 1.5-meter rule will apply again, inside and outside and guests will have to be seated. Bad news for everyone who just loves a good night out in town with friends 😔.
CLUBS HAVE TO CLOSE
Not really surprising after hearing that restaurants and bars have to close at midnight, but also clubs will have to shut down again until August 14. We hope you enjoyed the two weeks of partying in clubs like in the good old days, I can’t believe we have to give up on that again.
RIP FESTIVAL SEASON 2021?
Last but not least, festivals. My heart is hurting while writing this, we were all so excited to finally have festivals back and now this… Only 9 days after allowing festivals again the Dutch government has decided to not let them go through as planned. The Testen voor Toegang possibilities will be limited and events can only take place at 1.5 meters distance and seated, which makes full-capacity festivals impossible. The measures will go into effect as of tomorrow, July 10, 6 am, and will be in place until at least August 13. Is there still hope for events that are later this summer, such as Mysteryland or Decibel? We hope so.
I’m still a bit in denial that this is actually happening, can you believe it? We all thought that the strict measures were over and that we can finally reunite, dance, and enjoy life at festivals again like in the good old days. After 1.5 years of no festivals, parties and events I’d definitely need that.
